Introduction into Competition Pistol Shooting By: Marc Santos

Purpose: The purpose of this class is to familiarize shooters in the basics of competitive shooting. A new shooter’s first match can be overwhelming and stressful which can compromise safety. Sports discussed are United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA), Steel Challenge Shooting Association (SCSA), and International Defensive Pistol Shooting Association (IDPA). Students will learn how to shoot safely with a shot timer and learn the basic rules, safety rules, and etiquette to ensure them success for their first match. The shooting portion of the course students will compete against each other and more importantly themselves in a mini match! Materials Needed: Safe firearm, Holster (No cross-draw holsters and any holster deemed unsafe by instructors), belt, minimum of 2 magazine pouches, hearing protection, eye protection, proper range attire, and a notebook and pen is recommended. 50 rounds of Ammunition.

Marc Santos is an active-duty Navy Supply Corps Officer, sponsored competitive shooter and NRA certified Pistol Instructor. He is currently a member of the Navy Marksmanship Team as an Action Shooter and has represented the Navy at several world, national, state, and local level matches earning several titles. Marc’s primary focus in competition are pistol divisions in United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA), Steel Challenge Shooting Association (SCSA), and the International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA).

3. All cancelations received in 48 hours or less will not be refunded due to the unlikeliness of filling students vacant seat.
4. We ask that students do not transfer courses. All course transfers requested within 14 days or less of course date will be treated as a cancelation and will be refunded accordingly.
